This charming, newly renovated cottage is ideally placed in the beautiful countryside and yet not far from the medieval bastide town of Penne d’ Agenais with popular restaurants and cafés.
Penne d’ Agenais dates back to the Roman times and has witnessed many invasions. In the 12th century, following the marriage between the Eleanor of Aquitaine with Henry Plantagenet the town was dominated under the British. Their son, Richard the Lionheart, fortified the castle of Penne which became a powerful defence. There are cobbled streets leading up to the Basilic (church) Notre-Dame de Peyragude, at the top. In August it is hosts a magical music and firework display from there. At the bottom of the hill is Port de Penne by the river Lot, where you can hire boats or canoes.
The newly renovated cottage is reached by a long driveway which also give access to the owner’s property. There is a beautiful 10m x 4m private heated swimming pool with large terraced area and electric cover.
Entrance into the cottage is into the large sitting room. The sitting room has comfortable furnishings around a wood- burner and gives access to the pool and terrace through French doors at the back. There is WiFi available at the cottage but neither Kingfisher or the owner are liable for any loss or interruption (such as storms etc) of internet service. (There is no TV or DVD) To the left of the sitting room are steps that lead up to the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is well equipped with fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee machine, hob and electric oven. At the other end of the kitchen is a cosy dining area with wooden table and four chairs.
The large bedroom situated on the other side of the sitting room has twin or double bed with an en-suite shower room. There is a walk in Italian shower, basin, WC, washing machine and dryer. Linen is included but please bring your swimming pool towels.
Outside is the lovely new heated swimming pool which has internal steps and a hand rail, there is an electric security cover. Beside the pool is a large totally private terrace area with garden furnishings and a round table for meals al fresco and a Webber charcoal BBQ. From the pool is a grassed area and woods behind. Whilst the owners live in the main house next door, tenants have exclusive use of the swimming pool which is set private at the rear of the cottage.
