The lands produced the income from the vineyards, prunes and cattle, and still today the neighbour produces the lovely Cahors wine. This picturesque, rustic castle, although not luxurious is an enjoyable place for large parties of people to holiday.
Chateau d’Aix consists of a large main house containing a separate apartment called the Douve. It has a courtyard surrounded by several adjoining buildings, which used to be the old bakery, stables, barn and chapel. The owner lives in another of these buildings, the Payasanne and who will deal with any problems and assist with any information if required.
The chateau is set in two acres of grounds with a swimming pool situated on a lower level of the garden. It has a wonderful atmosphere of ancient history and is a mix of old and new. There is a large sitting room with original fireplace and the principal kitchen next door, beyond which is the large dining room which can seat up to 24 people. The kitchen has two cookers, dishwasher, kettle, fridge, toaster and coffee machine. There is also a freezer in the utility room. Doors open from here out to a attractive vine covered terrace, with views down to the pool and garden. The old music room has a TV to play DVDs and videos, games, puzzles and a table football game. Also downstairs is a shower room with shower, basin and WC.
On the 1st Floor there are 6 Bedrooms, and a grand room which was the library and is now a comfortable sitting room. Bedroom (1) has a 5ft bed, bedroom (2) has twin beds and an adjacent tiny room with a single bed. Next to this room is a bathroom, with slipper bath, shower, basin and WC. Bedroom (3) has a 5ft bed, bedroom (4) has a 4ft double bed, bedroom (5) has a 6ft bed and bedroom (6) has 5ft bed. Next to this bedroom is another bathroom with bath, shower attachment, basin and WC.
Stairs lead up to the second floor which has 3 Bedrooms, bedroom (7) which has a 6ft bed, bedroom (8) has twin beds and from this bedroom is an adjacent tiny room with a single bed. Between bedrooms (8 & 9) is a shower room, with large shower, basin and WC. Bedroom (9) has a 6ft bed and from here is the door leading into the separate apartment the Douve (the old wheat stock)
In this apartment is a large sitting/dining room with a big fireplace and an open plan kitchen. The kitchen has an electric cooker, fridge, dishwasher, toaster, microwave and coffee maker. There is a bathroom with a bath, double basin and a separate WC.
There are 2 further bedrooms, Bedroom (10) which has a 5ft bed and then a dormitory Bedroom. In this bedroom which has several single beds, is a low ceiling and is only suitable for children.
There is a very nice terrace reached from the main kitchen, with a large table and benches overlooking the swimming pool area. The 14m x 7m swimming pool is situated below the chateaux at the lower level. The two acre garden has a pretty matured, grassy areas and fruit trees.
In the grounds there is also a small cottage, Maison du Parc, which maybe let separately and use the swimming pool.
