…and views across the rolling countryside. The gite is situated off the road from the small commune of St Etienne de Fourges, which is an area well known for local grown prunes, cheeses and wines. Nearby is the village of Fongrave, a medieval village along the river Lot, where boats and canoes are for hire to explore this river with or hire a bike to explore the beautiful countryside.
In the high season, there are several night markets to visit in the area; Fongrave on Thursday evenings and at another village, Laparade, on Tuesday evenings.
The Village of Laparade is well worth a visit, it has one of the most beautiful views of the Lot et Garonne. There are festivals, shows, and farmers markets which attract visitors from all over France. For the more adventurous there is a small micro-lite airfield where you can book a flight for an hour’s birds eye view over the area.
The property is accessed from a driveway which leads into the parking area next to the Gite. The accommodation is entered from the open ended covered terrace. There is a stone BBQ with chimney through the roof, a prefect area for outside dining or pool side shade.
Inside is a sitting/dining area with comfortable seating and table and chairs. There is UK (Freesat) satellite TV and Wi-Fi is available but neither Kingfisher or the owner are liable for any loss or interruption (caused by storms etc). The Kitchen has a fridge, dishwasher, cooker, kettle, toaster and microwave. There is a washing machine room in the adjacent storage to the kitchen.
There are two bedrooms, bedroom 1 has a double bed and bedroom 2 has twin beds. There is a shower room with shower, basin and WC.
Outside the 11m x 5m heated swimming pool has ladder steps and a tiled terrace. There are sun loungers and whilst the property is adjacent to the owner’s house, tenants have exclusive use of the swimming pool.

Owners very helpful, welcome pack amazing. Gite very comfortable and clean in a lovely quiet location. Area very nice with some good restaurants nearby. Pool amazing and very welcome in the hot weather. Night markets are well worth a visit. Mr T,S. Melton Mowbray
Barguillac Gite is a small but comfortable house in a stunning location with a wonderful private swimming pool. The owners live next door and are very helpful and friendly, whilst still respecting our privacy. The photos don’t really do justice to the property which is far nicer than we expected. The area is lovely and we particularly recommend the evening markets in many villages, where you can enjoy the regional food and talk to the friendly local people who made us feel very welcome. There is also the excellent Ferme Auberge de Feuillade a short drive away where the lunches are superb, and great value at €15 per person for 4 courses, wine, water and coffee. Everything is grown on the farm, and the menu changes every day. It is not open in the evening, but we went for lunch twice in the week of our holiday, and thoroughly enjoyed it. In summary, Barguillac Gite is a lovely property, ideal for a couple or a small family. Mr & Mrs K.B, Selby.
We stayed at Barguillac Git over Aug 2017 for two weeks and all I can say is what a truly relaxing place it was, standing in the middle of sunflower crops was a joy, from day 1 it felt like a home. We stopped as a couple with two children (7 & 10) and it was more than adequate for the four of us (both size and facilities), with WIFI, English TV, pool, sun beds towels and cooking facilities all excellent.
The outside area with fire and pool being outstanding and a great place to eat, drink and play together both day and night, the pool was lovely and clean and was constantly looked after by Dave our host. It is a decrepitly large pool and was lovely and warm being heated so was useable day and night, even while it was raining (well it is the south of France).
Facilities wise the bedroom and bathrooms where clean and quite large and a more than big enough kitchen to allow us to cook on an evening (which we did most evenings). The Gite is quite large and this does not come over on the photo’s I am afraid, but it was large enough for us 4 and would be fine for 4 adults.
Both Dave and Joan where more than helpful but respectful of our privacy and could not do enough for us during our stay, including helping to solve our car problems and taking us to their local garage!
The only downside is that the nearest supermarket is a 10 min drive away towards Villeneuve Sur Lot but you still have a couple of local boulangeries but these are still a 5 drive away.
In summary if you want a get away from it all holiday in a welcoming homely environment you would struggle to find much better and I would expect us to return to Barguillac in the coming years. Mr L.C, Hartlepool.
