Your youngsters can also explore the spectacular caves at Gouffre de Padriac or take a trip back in time and visit castles such as Chateau Bonaguil near Fumel. They can also have a full filled adventure day at one of the theme parks such as Parc Walibi, just outside Agen, one of the main large towns in the area, or Parc en Ciel (Park in the Sky!) which is at Lacpelle Biron not far from the medieval town of Monflanquin.

Adults – The region is famous for its wines and this is a great opportunity for adults to enjoy a day out at one of the many wineries for wine tasting. More sporty types can go golfing at Castelaud 9 and 18 hole course, Espalais 18 hole, Agen 9 hole or the Roucous, 9 hole course. Alternatively you can go canoeing or kayaking along the Garonne, Lot and Dordogne rivers, or enjoy a serene pleasure cruise.

Quiet Relaxing break – For those of you who want a quiet relaxing break, there is plenty of opportunity for this in the Lot Valley. You can go for long riverside or country walks ending in dining at one of the many restaurants to sample local cuisine such as Cassoulet or Toulouse Sausages.
Visitors to the region can also spend the day sight-seeing and journey to one of the beautiful bastide towns to look round local churches or cathedrals. One example is the Abbey of Saint Pierre at Mossiac whose cloister and portal are classified as World Heritage sites. Or if shopping is more your cup of tea, you can pick up a bargain or some local produce from the many markets.

Fun and Adventure – The Lot Valley is a great place to visit if you want fun and adventure. There are tennis courts in most villages and your local tourist information centre can tell you about prices and times. If you like land sports there is an opportunity to go quad biking with quad bikes for hire at the Ford Garage at Montaigu de Quercy. If water sports are your thing, try water skiing at Moissac. For a more adrenaline fuelled activity, why not have a go at parachute jumping, just outside Montaigu de Quercy!

There is an excellent selection of self catering accommodation

All of our holiday accommodation is situated in a rural location surrounded by beautiful open countryside, so it is a great place for peace and quiet. Each of our cottages and gites has a swimming  pool (a few are shared) and also barbecuing facilities and a garden or terrace to enjoy fresco dining. Many of our holiday cottages have bed linen and towels provided, or these can be hired, and some of our cottages also have satellite TV and a video or DVD player.

Although our cottages are situated in a rural location, you are never too far from the nearest small town or village for all the necessities you need.

Self-catering accommodation offers good value for money compared to hotels as you get more than the use of just one room. You don’t have to worry about crowded pools and there are no more battles to get to the sun loungers. There are so many benefits to self-catering accommodation. It gives you and your children freedom to set your own agenda, try out lots of activities and explore the open countryside. You can also eat what you like, when you like – and there is no shortage of wonderful fresh food to buy here for cooking up a feast!

The food is something else!

France is great place for foodies and if you are looking for gourmet food and fine wine, the Lot Valley certainly does not disappoint. Cahors vineyards produces the famous ‘black wines’ wines, among the oldest wines in France. Sample the beautiful regional wines alongside some of the speciality food of the region including pate Foie Grass, truffles, confits or fine cheeses such as Rocamadour.

Another must try of the region are the stews or cassoulets, made from local wild boar. You can also enjoy corn fed chicken, lamb or duck or deer at one of the many restaurants. There are so many good value family-friendly restaurants in the Lot Valley serving up local delights. Or for your convenience we can recommend local caterers to cook up a delicious meal at your accommodation.
