The lyrics of the old Cliff Richard hit sum up our last post for 2018. We have a bit of all three to festoon our holiday season greetings.
We are delighted to announce the winner of our Early Booking for 2019 competition. Everyone who reserved their 2019 holiday accommodation with us before the 1st of December was entered in the draw for a meal for two at the Moulin de Dausse.
(By the way, happy 50th birthday to the song Congratulations and Celebrations, which was the UK Eurovision Song Contest entry in 1968!)
Season’s Greetings to all our customers, their families and their guests! And to our owners!
In Southwest France, the locals celebrate this season with foie gras, oysters and champagne. The emphasis is less on Christmas than New Year’s – the feast of Saint Sylvester. Friends and family exchange new year’s cards and greet each other in the street with “Meilleurs Voeux”.
Shortly after New Year’s, the baker will make Epiphany cakes – Galettes du Roi – with a figurine, called a feve, hidden within. In typical French fashion, there is a bit of controversy over these cakes. Some prefer the frangipane style. Others favour a lighter brioche covered in powdered sugar. Both are delicious.
However you like to celebrate, we wish you the very best for 2019.
We close with a big thank you to all our customers for making 2018 another very successful year. They have told us once again how they love our beautiful properties in fantastic locations.
We are a small, personal company aiming to maintain a high level of service and striving to ensure the best accommodation and experience of summer holidays in the Quercy and Lot Valley. Your custom is very much appreciated, and we look forward to hearing from you in the new year.
If you haven’t yet booked for 2019, perhaps you’ll find a few moments in between the festivities or in the quiet season in January to look at our choice of villas, gites, cottages and farmhouses. Booking early means you’ll have the widest selection of accommodation and best choice of travel arrangements.
