It used to be the home of the village blacksmith - thus the name of the house La Forge, French for blacksmith . The property is situated within walking distance of the Dordogne River, in a quiet, peaceful village called Meyronne. On the banks of the Dordogne there are two open air swimming pools with eating facilities, safe riverside bathing, picnic areas and canoeing. The village itself is a small farming hamlet, with St. Sozy on the opposite bank of the Dordogne, across the Meyronne Bridge. St. Sozy has an array of shops, restaurants, small hotels, bars, post office and even its own "brocante" - French for a bric-a-brac shop.
