Village (3 kms, Pujols)
Les Moulinieres is situated only 3kms from the beautiful village of Pujols, in the heart of the Lot et Garonne Department. The village, once fortified, is perched high on a hill and is one of the many bastide villages of the area, such as Monflanquin, Tournon d’Agenais, Penne d’Agenais and Villeneuve Sur Lot.
Pujols once the stronghold of heretics (Cathars) was destroyed during the war between the Albigensians (Cathar inhabitants from the area around the city of Albi) and the Crusaders, then subsequently rebuilt in the 15th Century. Still partly surrounded by the original enclosing walls it is well worth the visit for breathtaking views and now has several very nice restaurants.
The bustling town of Villenueve sur Lot, is just a further 2kms away. Standing on the banks of the river Lot and founded in 1264, still has many narrow streets with half-timbered buildings in the pedestrianised shopping area. Shopping is a joy in the many boutiques and the market is a colourful experience in the central square.
A Golf course can be found to the north near Cancon. Also in the surrounding area are the caves of Fontirou and Lastourelle to visit.
Moulinieres is a cottage in the grounds of the owners property, with a private driveway. The owners will not be on site and the cottage is looked after by house managers. The accommodation has 2 bedrooms to sleep up to 4 people and 1 shower room. From the cottage there is a panoramic view over the lovely rolling peaceful countryside.
The entrance opens into the kitchen /dining area. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric cooker, fridge /freezer, dishwasher, microwave, table & chairs. Low steps lead into the sitting room which has comfortable seating, a small TV (free view), with DVD and video player.
Upstairs is a mezzanine area with chairs, wardrobe and draws. There are 2 bedrooms, bedroom 1 has a double bed and bedroom 2 has twin beds. The bedding is English light Duvets and English pillows. Linen is included except swimming pool towels. There is a shower room with shower, WC and basin.
There is a washing machine for customers use in the basement of the owners property.
Please bring your mobile phones as there is no phone at the cottage.
Outside there is a patio giving wonderful views across a valley and the 12m x 6m swimming pool with roman steps and surrounding terrace.
Locally as well as golf, there is horse riding and fishing in lakes or the river.
