This is an attractive, large old stone house in the heart of the village of Born, situated near the border with the Dordogne department between the lovely Bastide towns of Monflanquin and Villereal.
Monflanquin is situated on top of a hill with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. It has kept its arcades around the central square, and is listed as 'one of the most beautiful villages in France'.
Monflanquin was founded in 1256 and Villereal was founded in 1269 by Alphonse de Poitiers, and you can see the home of the Black Prince in Monflanquin centre (top right corner of the square). The towns were founded to keep the English at bay, which did not work and the English occupied the towns during the Hundred Years War.
Both small towns are lively with , small shops, cafes and restaurants amongst pretty small back streets to explore and a couple of small museums. Monflanquin has a Thursday morning market and Villereal has a 14th century market hall dominating almost all of the central square - and is used for its lively Saturday market.
The house can be let as a whole, although it is divided up into three (distinctly) separate parts/houses.
The pretty garden extends to just over an acre, half a hectare, also has many shady & sunny areas also with a swimming pool (12m x 6m) with a parameter alarm. There are also bracelets for children which set off the alarm when they touch the water.

On the mezzanine above the kitchen is a sitting area with a 160 cm wide sofa bed, a single bed and a television & DVD.

The accommodation & living areas are all on an upper floor reached by outside steps leading to the kitchen door.
The kitchen is very well equipped with a large electric oven & 5 gas burners. In addition there is a small electric oven & a microwave, also a pressure cooker, toaster, kettle, coffee machine, food blender, dishwasher & American fridge/freezer.
A doorway leads into a very large sitting room & dining area, and there is a 160 cm wide sofa bed.
There is a bedroom with twin beds, a bathroom with bath & shower attachment, two basins & washing machine. The WC is separate.
The main bedroom has a 180cm wide double bed. A doorway leads straight from the main bedroom into a twin bed room.
Le Puits -6 Bedrooms,1 Shower room, 1 Bathroom & 2WCs
Outside steps lead down to the entrance door which leads straight into the kitchen area then the dining & sitting areas.
The kitchen is very well equipped with a large electric oven & 5 gas burners. In addition there is a small electric oven & a microwave, also a pressure cooker, toaster, kettle, coffee machine, food blender, dishwasher & American fridge/freezer.
A few steps lead up to a bedroom with a 180 cm wide double bed and a small outside terrace.
Other steps lead up from the sitting area to another bedroom with a 180cm double bed. A third bedroom also has a 180cm double bed. Also on this floor is a shower room with shower, basin & WC and a bathroom with bath, shower & 2 basins. There is also a separate WC.
Stairs lead up to a higher floor where there is a room with twin beds also which leads through to a second room with twin beds. Also stairs rise from the first of these twin rooms up to the “attic” where there are four single beds.
