This charming old Quercy stone farmhouse is situated in the Lot region nearby the 13th century town of Castelnau-Montratier. This pretty bastide town has a market each Sunday morning, local shops, banks, and two restaurants/bars. It is in an excellent location for sightseeing or just taking a relaxing peaceful holiday.

The picturesque stone farmhouse has been renovated to a very high standard and yet still retains its old world charm. Stone steps lead up to a lovely covered terrace and the side entrance. This opens into the well equipped farmhouse kitchen, with ‘Lacanche’ cooker, dishwasher,fridge/freezer, microwave etc. This all surrounds a most attractive large open fireplace. A double bedroom (1) with king-sized bed leads off from this with en-suite bathroom with good sized shower, double washbasins, and WC. A second door leads to an inner hall which gives access to a twin-bedded room (2) , also with an ensuite bathroom with roll top bath, walk in shower, bidet, washbasin, and WC. Steps from the inner hallway lead to a large bright sitting-room beautifully furnished with woodburning stove and French/English TV. The main door from the driveway leads directly into this room

Stairs lead down to the ground floor to twin-bedded room (3), with ensuite bathroom comprising bath/shower, basin and WC and a large bedroom suite (4) with Emperor sized wooden ‘sleigh’ style bed (this is the old cow feeding area!) with an ensuite Bathroom with bath/shower, basin and WC. French doors lead directly to the garden/pool area.

 

 

Also on the ground floor is the old ‘Cave’ - now the games room, with comfortable furnishings and a bar-billiards table. A door leads directly to the garden.

Attached to the house is the separate annexe. This has a living-room with English/French TV . Off this is the kitchen. A (fairly steep) wooden staircase leads up to the twin-bedded bedroom (5) and separate shower room, with washbasin and WC. This bathroom contains a top-loading washing machine. Linen is included for a 2 week stay.

The property is centrally heated and has landline telephone in both the main house and the annexe which will be available for all incoming and outgoing local calls.

The garden is set around the house with gently sloping lawn with mature trees. The summerhouse has an attractive BBQ area beside the old bread oven. This overlooks the swimming pool which is 8 x 4 mtrs. with internal steps and is surrounded by a stone terrace (and approved metal fence surround). Situated on the side of a hill with lovely views over the valley and surrounding hills it is reached via a quiet country road off which is a private drive leading to the side of the house and a large parking area. It is approximately 1¼ hours drive from Toulouse (Blagnac) Airport and about ½ an hour’s drive from Cahors where there is a twice weekly market, good selection of restaurants and several large supermarkets.
