Borie is a beautifully restored Quercy Blanc stone farmhouse overlooking the pretty Courbiac valley with stunning panoramic views of the 13th century Bastide town of Tournon d'Agenais, in South-West France. The town of Tournon d’Agenais is a Royal bastide town from 1271 and on the route of St Jaques de Compostella with a lovely square and belfry tower with superb views, restaurants, small supermarket, butcher and boulanger, also there a is a Friday evening market during July and August.
The medieval bastide towns were fortified and usually built on hilltops, some by the English and some French. Most of these towns are well preserved and many have good restaurants. Penne d'Agenais, Monflanquin, Villereal and Villeneuve-sur-Lot which are also bastides towns are close by. Penne d'Agenais is a most attractive hillside restored village with lovely views over the Lot river. It has several cafes and restaurants and is a pretty cobbled street tourist village. It used to have a castle built by Richard Coeur de Lion and has an interesting basilica. At the farmhouse you can relax in the peaceful large garden and the surrounding 29 acres of land attached to the property. The swimming pool (12 x 6 metres) is secluded behind the house with magnificent views along the valley. Mature trees provide cool shade for afternoons of relaxation.
The house has 3 Bedrooms and 2 Bathrooms and is comfortably furnished throughout. The spacious Sitting room has an open fireplace, beamed ceilings and a west facing covered terrace reached through double doors, where you can enjoy views of the hills and valley with the setting sun. There is Sky TV, (free View), a DVD player and HI FI. The Kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher, cooker, microwave, fridge etc. On the ground floor there is a large double bedroom (1) with double bed and an en-suite Bathroom with a bath and shower and WC.
Stairs lead down to 3 further Double Bedrooms. Bedroom (2) has a double bed and has double doors leading out to the front garden. Bedroom 3 has twin beds. There is a second bathroom, with bath & shower attachment, basin and WC and a laundry room with washing machine.
The garden is grassed with a number of large trees, box hedging, roses and numerous wild flowers. The surrounding land consists of fields & oak woodlands offering delightful country walks. The swimming pool has roman steps. Garden furniture, Ping Pong and a BBQ are provided. There is a restricted telephone for local calls, and it is possible to have internet connection here if requested. For all other telephone calls it is advisable to bring your mobiles. Linen is available for hire
