BY ROAD

The superb French Autoroute (Motorway) system makes driving here as easy as you could hope for. The main Motorways to this region are the A10 (from the north to Bordeaux), the A20 (from Paris via the A10, A71) to Toulouse and the A62 (from Toulouse to Bordeaux). The journey from Calais to Bordeaux is about 560 to 590 miles and should take around 8 hours. We are about 580 miles from Calais/Le Havre and 430 miles from St Malo. Cherbourg extends the drive by 2 or 3 hours. You can avoid the Peripherique at Paris by taking (from Charles de Gaulle Airport) the A 86 & A (& N) 186 and the A10 direction Bordeaux. The A 10 divides at Orleans where we recommend taking the A 71 (direction Vierzon and Toulouse) and then the A 20 to North or South Cahors.

Nearby Motorway junctions:

  • From Toulouse A 20 to Cahors South

  • From Paris A 20 to Cahors South (or North)

  • From Bordeaux A 62 to Aiguillon or Agen

The properties, give or take, are (approximately):

½ to 1 hour north of Agen TGV railway station
½ hour west of Cahors
½ hour south of Dordogne River at Sarlat
1 ½ hours north of Toulouse Airport
1 to 2 hours south of Bergerac Airport
2 hours east of Bordeaux Airport
2 hours west of St Antonin Noble Val
2 hours south of Brive Railway Station - arrival of car train
2 ½ hours east of Atlantic coast at Archachon
2 ½ hours north west of Carcassonne
3 hours north east of Atlantic coast at St Jean de Luz and Biaritz
3 hours west of Rodez Airport
3 ½ hours east from Spanish Border
3 ½ hours north from Pyrenees
5 ½ hours from Paris
6 hours from St Malo
7 ½ hours from Calais

BY RAIL

Eurostar runs via the Channel Tunnel between London and Paris (Gare de Nord) in 3 hours. Paris is linked to the high speed rail network (TGV). Departures for Aquitaine are from Gare Montparnasse station. Taking the train from London to Lille avoids the need to change stations in Paris. There are TGV connections to Bordeaux and Toulouse as well as to Agen, which is the nearest station to our properties. There is a car train to Brive, which is less than 2 hours from the area. The Motorail service (car on the train) runs from Calais to Toulouse throughout the holiday season and from Paris (Austerlitz) to Toulouse during the rest of the year including the night train with either Couchettes or wagon lits.
